Steele Canyon Academic Advisor, David Schultz
May 15, 2008 Dear Steele Canyon School Community: It is with great sadness that I share with you the death of Steele Canyon Academic Advisor, David Schultz. Dave passed away on Wednesday evening at UCSD Medical Center, where he had been undergoing treatment for cancer. We shared this regrettable news today with our staff members and held a special lunch meeting to discuss Dave’s situation as well as his positive impact on the lives of Steele Canyon people this school year. Tomorrow, Friday, we will announce Dave’s passing school-wide, hold a moment of silence, and hopefully share information about his memorial service.

Dear Faculty, Staff, Governing Board Members, and Community Supporters of Steele Canyon High School, A California Charter School:
It is with great sadness and heartfelt sympathy that I announce the death of a current Steele Canyon student, an 11th grader at our school, who was hit by a car on Friday evening as she was walking west on Campo Road. Our student passed away that same Friday evening. (At the time of this writing, the student’s name has not, as yet, been officially released by the San Diego County Medical Examiner’s Office to the general public.) Needless to say, this was an unfortunate and untimely accident.

Channel 10 News:
Your April 9 story entitled “School: Disabled Student Can't Graduate Without P.E.,”currently posted on your website and aired on April 9, omitted some important facts and was misleading about our charter school.

No School Monday 10-22-2007
The Harris fire is affecting several of our communities: Potrero, Dulzura and Barrett Junction. It is reported still out of control and Steele Canyon has opened up its campus to the Red Cross as an evacuation site. As a result there will be no school for students tomorrow - Monday - October 22.
We will assess the situation on Monday and determine when the school will re-open.
