With a solid victory over visiting West Hills your Lady Cougars wrestling team have clenched the Grossmont Hills League banner. And they did it on Senior Night! Congratulations to head coach Trevor Keifer who was recently inducted into the coaching hall of fame and all the young lady’s who left it all on the mat for their team. Good luck in CIF, Masters, and State!

In a hard fought, come from behind game your Lady Cougars played their way to a razor thin victory over visiting El Cajon Valley, 46-43. Congratulations to the girls who left it all on the floor and came from behind to capture the win!!! Rah Rah Cougars!

Curious about data science and looking for a place to start?
StemMed Data Lab is a 4 workshop series from March 1st to March 22nd designed to equip students with introductory data analysis skills through a collaborative, team-based data science project. This program includes 4 mandatory meetings and roughly 2 dozen participants.

The program is entirely VIRTUAL and introduces the basics of data analysis to students, and is thus designed for those without prior experience in data analysis. The program includes opportunities to interact with data science professionals and gain insights through Q&A.

We would like to thank the Otay Water District for working through the night to restore water service and for their consistent communication with school leadership. Repairs were completed early this morning, and water service is expected to be fully restored by approximately 8:30 a.m.

To ensure our campus is fully ready for students and staff, school will begin at 10:00 a.m. today and will follow a modified schedule with 67-minute classes. This delayed start will allow our facilities team time to check all faucets and restrooms, and our food services staff time to safely prepare meals.

Busses will operate as they would on a Wednesday schdule. We encourage families to check the Stop Finder App for updates.

We will notify you immediately if we are unable to safely begin school at 10:00 AM.

FAFSA
It is time for seniors to start applying for FAFSA, whether they are going to a four-year university, vocational school, or community college. There are three workshops scheduled within the next few months and there will be support from staff who work at Cuyamaca College. Please have the student check out californiacolleges.edu to start working on the FSA ID (this is needed for both the student and parent). Join us for our Winter Concert on Monday, December 15 at 7:00 PM. This night will feature performances from Orchestra, Symphonic Band, Percussion Ensemble, Jazz Band, Color Guard, and several honor student musicians. It is one of our favorite concerts of the year and a great way to celebrate the hard work and growth of our students. Tickets can be purchased with the QR code. The library is having a Holiday Book Fair on December 10th from 11am-2:30pm! There will be plenty of holiday goodies, fun merch, and (of course) lots of books! The library will get 20% of all sales and the fair will be hosted by Mysterious Galaxy, a local independent bookstore.

Apple pay, card, and cash will be acceptable forms of payment. There will be a wide variety of items with prices as low as $5 and up to $50. In terms of books, students can expect a paperback to cost around $15-$18 and a hardback $25-$30.

Stop by the library and get some holiday shopping done while you help us raise funds!

San Miguel Fire and our Cougar Crew are teaming up for the annual Fill the Boot fundraiser on Wednesday, December 3rd. Students and families are invited to donate cash as they enter school or during Block 2 classes. All funds go toward purchasing holiday gifts for local teens in need. Your generosity helps brighten the season for families in our community! Online donations are also accepted!

Steele Canyon Football left it all on the field in the D2 CIF Championship. In an intense, hard-fought battle, the Cougars were narrowly edged out by Santa Fe Christian, 44–41. We couldn’t be more proud of the heart, grit, and determination this team has shown all season. Congratulations on an incredible year, Cougars! 🏈

Steele Regiment closed the season strong with a top ten finish at the state championships. Taking 10th place in California is a huge accomplishment and a reflection of the work, discipline, and heart these students put into Sol Fatalis. Proud is an understatement. What a way to finish the season and a first in 2A for SCHS! Rah Rah Cougars!

With a final score of 21-7 your Cougar football team advance to the CIF D2 Championship Final at Southwestern College next Friday, 11/28, at 7pm. We hope you will come out to support! Congratulations to the team and coaches who have had an incredible season! Rah Rah Cougars!

Winter Wonderland Week is coming Dec. 1–5!
Students can enjoy a full week of festive fun, including Snowy Snuggle sales, a life-size snow globe photoshoot, Winter Wear Day, a Cookie Showdown, and Friday’s holiday dress-up with an Ugly Sweater Contest. Join the fun all week long and help us celebrate the season!

In Sports Medicine class students learn about injuries sustained in sports and how to care for them. During our unit on the elbow and wrist students learned and practiced how to tape wrists and thumbs.

Steele Canyon media club member, and frequent SCTV anchor, Georgia Haukom was the PPR Idol on October 31st. She got the chance to meet with a news crew before traveling to Mira Mesa High School to cover that night's football game. Georgia then got to interview players from the winning team, before traveling back to the studio and sitting on the anchor desk with Paul Rudy to present the highlights. It was an amazing experience and Georgia earned rave reviews!

Thanks to Richard Dorsha for capturing the game winning touchdown from last nights CIF quarterfinal game that send the Cougars to the semifinal game next week vs San Diego High at Steele Canyon. Rah rah cougars!

Steele Regiment Qualifies for State Championships!

For the first time in Steele Canyon history, the Steele Regiment has qualified for the SCSBOA State Championships! Out of over 31 schools in Division 2A, the top 12 advance to finals... and we’re currently ranked 8th in the state!

Our 2025 field show, “Sol Fatalis,” showcases the incredible talent, dedication, and heart of our students. Their hard work throughout the season has made this historic moment possible.

We’ll be heading to Finals on November 22 in Riverside, representing Steele Canyon with pride and excellence. Congratulations to our amazing performers and thank you to everyone who supports our band family!
