Enrollment Process:

Step 1: Complete and submit your Intent to Enroll Application before 2/18/26.

Step 2: SCHS Lottery, 2/20/2026

Step 3: Check your email for either an Acceptance with the link to register your student before the deadline, or Waitlist information. 

Step 4: Complete the enrollment process before the deadline.

 

  • There is NO automatic enrollment from any middle school to Steele Canyon High School. All new students must complete an Intent to Enroll Application. 

  • If you submitted a waitlist application for the 2025-2026 school year, you must reapply for the next school year - previous applications do NOT rollover.

  • Current SCHS students do not need to reapply for the next school year. 

Residency Requirement for Student Enrollment:

  • Per California State Education Code and Governing Board Policy, all students must provide proof of residency and housing status as part of student enrollment.

  • Copies of documents verifying residency (listed below) will be collected during Enrollment and placed in the student’s permanent cumulative folder on a yearly basis. You must also provide proof of residency any time you move. 

  • Parent/legal guardian names, and addresses must appear on all documents.

  • Caregivers, Foster Parents, and other Court Appointed Guardians must provide additional required documents. Please click here to see the requirements for temporary legal guardianship.

Required Documents:

The following documents will be required to complete the enrollment process after the Lottery takes place and ONLY if your student is accepted.

  • Student Birth Certificate

  • Parent(s) or Legal Guardian proof of residence

  • Student Immunization record

  • Parent(s) / Legal Guardian Photo ID

  • Incoming 9th grade - Most current Report Card (2024-2025). Please make sure the report card clearly shows the student name, grade, school logo and address.

  • Emergency Contacts - Please list 2 (two) emergency contacts that are NOT a parent/guardian.

  • New students, grades 10-12, will need to provide a copy of their Unofficial Transcript for the grade level team to review before completing the enrollment process.

  • If applicable - If you list a restrained individual in your application, you must provide documentation (Court Order). Otherwise the restriction will not be valid.

ACCEPTABLE PROOF OF RESIDENCY WITH ONE (1) OF THE FOLLOWING DOCUMENTS:​​

  • Deed to home or Mortgage Statement

  • Escrow papers for a home or signed offer to purchase a home

  • Property tax receipt

IF YOU DO NOT HAVE ONE OF THE ABOVE PROOF OF RESIDENCY DOCUMENTS, THEN YOU MUST SUBMIT TWO (2) OF THE FOLLOWING: ​

  • Regular driver’s license (not temporary) with residence address

  • Receipt for deposit and/or receipt for bills paid to a local utility company, i.e., SDG&E, cable, water, disposal (most recent, within the last 30 days)

  • 10-40 Tax document (Must be 2025 tax year, list the residence address, and student name as a dependant)

  • Rental agreement with property owner or agent’s signature (notarized or verified under penalty of perjury by a state of california notary)

Warning: Falsification of residency housing verification will result in immediate revocation of student enrollment.

We cordially invite your student to apply to attend Steele Canyon High School, a California Charter School in the Grossmont Union High School District. Our school is a comprehensive 4-year charter high school with an enrollment of approximately 2,200 students. 
Our welcoming staff is committed to ensuring that every student feels welcome, valued and cared for, and works diligently to provide a positive high school experience for everyone.  
We offer all of the rigorous academic courses you would expect at a high performing school including an extensive list of honors, AP, and dual enrollment college courses.  We also offer an excellent and highly competitive athletic program, an award winning performing arts department, eight Career Technical Educational Pathways (CTE Pathways), and nearly 70 unique student-led clubs that are open to all.
