SCHS Attendance Office is an email only system (phone calls are no longer used to clear attendance or request off campus passes). Parents can also come in person to speak with attendance.

Here are two email addresses that our attendance office will be using  

• For Off Campus Passes: offcampuspass@schscougars.org

• To Clear an Absence:     attendance@schscougars.org 

 

Clear by replying to SCHS: You can also clear absences by responding to our daily attendance notifications. Steele Canyon sends daily emails, text messages, and phone calls through ParentSquare—our communication system—to notify you if a student has missed one or more class periods.

Both the email and text message will include a link you can use to reply and clear the absence.

Please remember that you have three (3) days to clear an absence. After that time, the absence will be marked as truancy and recorded on your child’s permanent record.

 

If you know your child will be absent in advance, you are encouraged to notify us ahead of time. Doing so may allow you to request a Short-Term Independent Study contract, which not only clears the absence but, if completed, ensures that the absence does not count against your child’s attendance record.

 

Clearing Late Arrivals: If your student reports to school more than 10 minutes late, students report directly to class rather than checking in at the attendance office. If your student is late due to an excused reason (illness, medical appointment, etc.), parents will excuse the late arrival by emailing the attendance@schscougars.org to verify the reason for the late arrival.
