Governing Board
The Steele Canyon Governing Board is the school's independent governing body, separate from the Grossmont Union High School District (GUHSD) board. It consists of seven voting members—three elected staff representatives and four community representatives (often parents or local business owners).
Board members are elected by specific constituencies: staff select the staff representatives, while community members, typically parents of enrolled students or local residents, elect the community representatives. The board oversees the school’s policies, finances, and charter compliance.

Steele Canyon High School sets their calendar of open session meeting dates each year and submits a copy to their sponsoring District (GUHSD). The calendar is set during the October organizational meeting when the members of the Board conduct the annual election of the officers. The Governing Board may schedule special meetings, closed session meetings and/or workshops when necessary allowing the Board to meet certain timelines.
